I bought a brand new 2025 hybrid minivan. A couple of months in, it started to behave oddly- it struggled to gear shift out of park to reverse or drive, displayed warning messages, then failed to drive at all. The dealership took almost a month to diagnose the problem and replaced the hybrid electric CPU(onboard computer.) Two months later, the car failed again after similar symptoms, plus even more dire warning messages. The dealership took the car again and kept it for another 3 weeks, so finally I reached out and hired Mr. Ballato to help us invoke New York State’s lemon law. I’m pleased to say we always got Mr Ballato directly (in our case, no assistants). He was very quick and responsive to every email correspondence, and he helped us get the manufacturer to repurchase the car. He even provided a fantastic check list, when it was time to meet the pickup agent and exchange the car and keys for the check. We could not have done this without his assistance. Our vehicular nightmare is finally over. Thank you, Mr. Ballato!

I regret ever engaging with Anthony Ballato. From the beginning, he required a $500 money order just to “review documents” — something that immediately felt unusual, but I trusted him because he said he had handled many cases just like mine, even personally. That gave me hope. After I carefully gathered and organized all of my evidence at my own expense (including an additional $50 in overnight shipping due to unclear instructions from his office), I expected a real evaluation of my case. Instead, he dragged me along by asking for simple documents that would not have changed the facts. He had more than enough to give me a straight answer but refused to. When I pressed for clarity, he shifted his story. First, he made it sound like there was a strong case. Then, after I followed his advice and even filed a DMV complaint as he suggested, he suddenly claimed pursuing my matter in court was “not part of the consultation fee.” He essentially took the money and decided not to proceed — without ever clearly explaining why. The most frustrating part is that when I asked for something as basic as a direct answer on why he wouldn’t pursue my case after having sufficient information, he didn’t give me one — and instead accused me of “harassment” simply for asking. That’s not professional or acceptable. What bothered me most: • He implied I had a case worth pursuing but backpedaled once he had my fee. • He said he had “many clients in the same situation” yet gave no explanation why mine was any different. • He deflected responsibility by accusing me of using “buzzwords” or being “nasty” when I was simply asking for answers under stress. • When I mentioned seeing negative reviews before hiring him, he admitted he would “hate to get a bad review.” That stuck with me, because honesty and professionalism should prevent bad reviews — not fear of them. He also told me to file a DMV complaint, which I did — but anyone can do that. That’s not legal counsel worth $500. I was seeking real representation, not a Google search I could have done myself. At this point, I feel misled, dismissed, and taken advantage of. A decent, honest attorney would either (1) have been upfront from the beginning or (2) refunded the money if they knew they weren’t going to take the case. If he truly wanted to handle this properly, he’d refund me — and I’d gladly take this review down. But as it stands, I cannot recommend him to anyone. Clients deserve transparency and advocacy, not wasted time, money, and false hope.
